A sand filter is made up of beds of fine sand, gravel and coarse gravel which are placed inside a vessel.
Service Mode – This is the normal working mode of the sand filter.
Water comes from inlet through the Multiport Valve and drops on the sand bed which takes care of all suspended particles.
Clear water flows down and is collected by the Riser tube at the bottom from where the outlet is provided.
Cleaning the Sand Filter – Also known as Backwash
The reverse process is applied. We put the valve on the Back flush Mode.
Now all the water will enter inside the vessel through the Riser tube and will come out from the base of the vessel.
Entire dirt, sand, sediment particles which have been trapped by the sand are discarded through the Drain Pipe.
